So How Eco Are We?

Moonbie's main aim is to create a range of products that are sustainable, not just in the materials used. The main material used throughout all the disposable range is bamboo pulp. This is the best choice as it is a 100% sustainable. Bamboo is fast growing and regenerates quickly, making it a eco choice. Bamboo requires no irrigation, and it rarely needs replanting after it is harvested, unlike trees. The natural colour of the items are made from 100% natural food dyes. The colours include beetroot, turmeric, spinach, blueberries and red cabbage. PLA is a protective layer that is fully sustainable, it has zero plastic in it, making it fully biodegradable.

These products are not just eco in the material that are uses, the manufacturing process is also environmentally friendly. Through the use of sustainable machinery, equipment and process the production has no negative effect on the environment. The disposable range only includes one-use items, most of existing one-use products are extremely bad for the environment. Moonbie's products are different to these products as they are biodegradable, compostable and have no negative environmental footprint. The dinnerware ends up where it started.

The reusables are made form 100% natural materials. The picnic bag is made from eco cotton canvas and the blanket is made from a PUL lined fabric. These items are beneficial for the environment as they are reusable. This means that because they are not being disposed of after every use they save energy time that comes with having to dismantle and re-manufacture products.  It also significantly reduces waste and pollution because it reduces the need for raw materials, saving both forests and water supplies.

The packaging of these products, includes no plastic or any other materials that have a negative impact on the environment. It consists of a limited amount of materials.
